Team Mates come together at Sandown

The final Round of the Australian Production Car Series held at Sandown raceway was a closely fought event, to close for Team LMR.

The Sandown layout was purpose built for the Big Horsepower of the Green Machines and early practice had several known identities commenting on the “Straight Line” pace of both Gerard and Shaun.

Qualifying was another great result for the team with both cars in the Top Ten and looking forward to the One Hour Enduro.

Gerard was exited about finally being with the category after a stalled start to the season and was thankful to all who had mad it happen.

Shaun finally got his chance to let the Big Horsepower Green Machines loose on the long straights of the Sandown layout.

The Green Flag fell for the One Hour Event, and as expected the Team LMR duo raced quickly to the front of the field along with the much fancied Subaru’s and Mitsubishi Evo’s.

One car setting a great pace was the XR8 of John Bowe who throughout the Hour would be the one the Team would have to beat for class honours.

Lap 6 of the 36 that would be completed was to test the resolve of the Team and mostly that of Gerard.

Shaun was in a hurry to get out and after the John Bowe car and under brakes into turn two collided with Gerard and caused substantial damage to both cars.

Shaun’s car was too badly damaged to continue although the other car of Gerard’s was still able to race.

Pit Stops were going play a big part in the final result and a small delay in the compulsory stop was to leave the team wondering what might have been as Gerard was to finish Second behind John Bowe with only one minute separating them.

The Teams second place in Class B was a great result for the maiden outing in the series and great boost for the team prior the Drive Bathurst event planned for the middle of December.

Special thanks to Steve Briffa and his crew for adopting the LMR Team and taking on the repairs on both vehicles after the event.
