The dream of every Motor Racer is to race at Mt Panorama, the home of the largest Motor Sport Event on the Australian Racing calendar.
A new initiative was set up to allow many of the Australian Racing fraternity to drive and race at Bathurst, and with that Drive Bathurst and Sprint Bathurst were born.
The chance of driving the two new LMR Green Machines at the home of V8 Motor Sport was too much for the two drivers to miss out on.
Gerard and Shaun both jumped at the chance to sample the adrenalin of the “Mountain” prior to the 12 hour event in February
Time was never a problem and with that in mind the Drivers treated the Mountain with the respect it deserved by slowly building the speed of both cars.
Everything was going to plan until, what at any other circuit would have been a minor off track excursion, turned into a frightening high speed accident.
Shaun was extremely lucky to walk away, although that could not be said for the # 32 car.
The Team now had to concentrate on the remaining car and focus on Gerard and the rest of the weekend ahead of them
With the accident behind them, Team LMR would put on a fantastic display and post times in practice that would have had them at the top of the field for 2008’s 12 Hour Event.
Friday night saw everyone at a Welcoming Event where the only unwelcome guest was the rain.
This rain was to persist right throughout the weekend and would test the skill of many who would take on the mountain.
Gerard was delighted with the R8’s handling and found himself amongst some very experienced Porches GT3 competitors.
In the wet, the horsepower of the R8 was to punish the tyres and Gerard would have to reign in the super quick HSV to find a balance in which to put down some great times.
A Top 14 place was a fantastic result for the Team and had many of the Porches and other drivers wondering how.

Team LMR will soon embark on a return trip to the Mt Panorama Circuit at Bathurst for the Bathurst 12 Hour in early February 2009.
This International endurance event attracts many of the best competitors from Australia and around the world.
All of the major manufacturers arrive at the mountain to do battle over the 12 hours for the honour involved in Australia’s Showroom Showdown.
